Board Suggests Ways for Southern States to Lower College Costs and Increase Degree Production
A Southern Regional Education Board (SREB) report proposes a set of policies meant to dramatically increase the number of students who enter and complete some form of postsecondary education.
SREB has set a goal that 60% of its states' adult population holds some postsecondary credential by 2025. While the report includes standard suggestions to align high school requirements with college-readiness benchmarks and enact accountability measures, it also urges proposals to reduce the time it takes to earn a degree and lower its cost.
