Dear All:

In light of the House of Representatives’ budget proposal to shut down CNCS, eliminate funding for AmeriCorps, NCCC, Vista, the Social Innovation Fund, and the Volunteer Generation Fund, Save Service has decided to host a call day today, Thursday, August 2nd. We realize this is very short notice, but we need your help tomorrow asking Members of Congress to make service a priority before they leave to go home.

Please call
800-216-0327 and talk to your Representative about the important role that national service plays in your community. Please share this throughout your networks and social media channels. Please remember to use #nationalservice on tweets and link your Facebook posts to the Voices for National Service Facebook page. Here are some helpful tips to give your constituents when they call:

TALKING POINTS

1. Hello.  My name is _______________ and I live at (your address) in (your city) and I am a voting constituent.  Can I please leave a message for my Representative?

2. I am calling to voice my support for [Name your program (AmeriCorps, RSVP, Senior Companions, Foster Grandparents, NCCC, VISTA, Social Innovation Fund, Volunteer Generation Fund)] and the entire Corporation for National and Community Service.

3. National Service and [name of program] put people to work here in (your city) addressing community needs such educating our children, helping seniors stay in their homes, rebuilding homes destroyed by storms, and so much more.  Please support funding for these important programs.

Our apologies for the short notice and thanks for your help!
