Congress is due to renew the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), the main federal law governing public education. Even if it doesn’t tackle the whole bill, some changes are likely to be enacted this year. This blog reviews areas of bipartisan agreement, from fixing the accountability system to improving teacher training, and asks for your answers to a few good questions: “What changes are most important to enact now? How much flexibility is enough for states and local school districts? Is a Race to the Top model for ESEA at all viable?”
