Get Involved in Children's Dental Health
It
has been less than four months since the health care reform (HCR) bill was
signed into law by President Obama. The Pew Center estimates the new insurance
requirements will result in 5.3 million more children obtaining dental
coverage. Will that coverage translate into meaningful access to care?
The ability of states to expand access to basic dental care depends on whether Congress funds the dental provisions included in HCR. Most of these provisions have been authorized by Congress, but are not yet funded. It is critical that advocates speak up by urging full funding of these provisions. While the House of Representatives is acting now on funding bills, there is still time to contact your U.S. senators.
