Metro TeenAIDS Celebrates Re-Opening of Youth Center for HIV Awareness
On February 18, Metro TeenAIDS celebrates the re-opening of its Freestyle Youth Center – a vital resource in the fight against HIV among youth in DC.
The Freestyle Youth Center provides a safe space after school for youth who are HIV positive, at risk for HIV and those who have been affected by a parent or loved one with HIV in a city with the highest HIV and AIDS rates in the country. No one under the age of 25 has known a world without AIDS. The Freestyle Youth Center engages young people to fight high infection rates and the stigma of HIV/AIDS while providing traditional youth center support such as youth development programs, job skills training, and recreational activities.
