The Institute of Medicine (IOM) of The National Academies is proud to co-sponsor a conference on Diabetes and Obesity with the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) to be held at UIC on Tuesday, September 21, 2010.  The conference will convene academic scientists, physicians, and others to explore the latest information regarding causes, treatment and potential preventive measures as well as public policy implications for the rising rates of diabetes and obesity in the United States.  Distinguished speakers include Jerrold M. Olefsky, MD, who will give the keynote address, and Jose Oberholzer, MD, who will give a luncheon talk.  Additional details may be found at the conference website.
