Stand Against Voter Suppression

The right to vote is a fundamental democratic principle. We value civic participation and believe that it is imperative for Americans to be able to engage in their communities by voting.

Young Democrats of America and Democracy for America have joined forces to defend voting rights in America.  Both organizations believe recent Republican efforts to suppress the vote through various methods including strict voter ID legislation, restrictive voter registration rules, elimation of same-day registration, and shorter early voting periods, are clearly politically motivated.

The people disproportionately affected by this legislation -- minorities, the working poor, people with disabilities, students and the elderly -- deserve better.
