A Test for our Nation
In a Huffington Post column, Linda Darling-Hammond says America can’t afford to allow our students to lag behind Singapore and Latvia. If we’re going to provide a world-class education to every student, we have to end the funding gap between the best and the worst schools, support and pay good teachers on a par with engineers, and move away from multiple choice tests to teaching and testing high-end skills like essay writing, scientific investigation, research, and complex problem-solving.
