Workforce Investment Act: NYEC’s Reauthorization Recommendations

National Youth Employment Coalition (NYEC), supported many of the significant changes to the federal youth employment and training program that were incorporated in the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) of 1998. Since 1998, there have been some successes, many challenges and many questions regarding implementation and service delivery.

Today, young people are facing a labor market with limited prospects. NYEC recommends that statutory changes are needed to improve implementation of the program and the career trajectories of the young people served by the program.
