Youth Corps Act
On May 25, 2010, Rep. Rob Andrews (D-NJ) introduced H.R. 5376, the Youth Corps Act of 2010, to establish a grant program at the Department of Labor to support Corps in providing education and training to disadvantaged youth. H.R. 5376 is identical to Senate bill, S. 3178, which was introduced in March by Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH). The Corps Network is currently seeking cosponsors for this important legislation, which would finally establish a “home” for Corps within the Federal Government. We are grateful to Senator Brown and Congressman Andrews for leading this effort. Our goal is to leverage resources from federal, state and local governments and from the private sector, to support the work of Corps nationally. Please touch base with Sally Prouty at sprouty@corpsnetwork.org for a list of co-sponsors to date and/or to let us know if you can help attract additional co-sponsors.
