2017 Update: The U.S. House and Senate have each passed a bill to reauthorize the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act (JJDPA), and now it's time for them to get together and get this done. Urge your elected officials to know that the time is now to pass this landmark law to strengthen core protections for young people in the juvenile justice system and add accountability measures to ensure compliance with these provisions. Here are some ways you can help!

WATCH to learn about the JJDPA & why it matters:

The JJDPA is the only federal law that sets national standards for the treatment of youth involved in juvenile justice systems. In the 43 years since it was first enacted into law, the JJDPA has enabled significant improvements to juvenile justice, including reducing youth crime rates and supporting many states in creating fairer approaches that help youth stay connected to their communities and get back on track.
