This report demonstrates how community-based organizations have helped low-income families support young children. It describes how community organizations frequently offer family support programs, supply training and site rehabilitation to child support providers, and create childcare strategies that include extended family.

The study recommends several ways community groups can better serve young children, such as by placing a greater emphasis on preschool education and school readiness, and understanding and coordinating with federal and state childcare funding sources. 24 pages.
